A Historic Milestone for PhilSCA and the Philippine HEIs in THE World University Rankings 2025!
At least 15 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs), including PhilSCA, have been listed as ‘Reporter’ status of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025.
This global ranking is made by assessing research-oriented universities in all their main areas, including teaching, research, sharing knowledge, and international outlook.
Only 6 HEIs in the country have been ranked and met the criteria of THE World University Rankings 2025, with Ateneo de Manila University at 1001-1200, University of the Philippines at 1201-1500, while De La Salle University, Mapua University, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, and University of Santo Tomas are all at 1501+.
According to its methodology, universities across the world are ranked based on these performance indicators that are grouped into five areas: teaching (the learning environment); research environment (volume, income, and reputation); research quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence, and research influence); international outlook (staff, students, and research); and industry (income and patents).
The other universities enlisted as ‘reporter’ status are Cebu Technological University, Central Luzon State University, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, Lyceum-Northwestern University, Manila Central University, National University Philippines, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Philippine State College of Aeronautics, Quezon City University, Saint Louis University, Tarlac Agricultural University, University of Eastern Philippines, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, University of Immaculate Conception, and Visayas State University.
To move from Reporter to Ranked, HEIs must increase research output to meet the benchmark of 1,000 relevant publications over five years.
LET’S CELEBRATE OUR PROGRESS, HOWEVER SMALL, towards achieving excellence in global aviation education. The journey has just begun—keep flying, PhilSCA!
